On November 10, 2001, Officer LaValle Van Etten died from a heart attack while on duty at the U.S. Capitol Power Plant. Officer Van Etten was 52 years old and had served with the USCP for more than 27 years. Officer Van Etten spent his career assigned to the House Division and also served as an adjunct training instructor for the collapsible baton.
