On September 26, 2006, at approximately 1:50 p.m., a pedestrian in an effort to take a short cut from the Senate to the House side entered an East Front Plaza construction gate that had been opened to facilitate positioning official vehicles. The individual was noticed and stopped by a construction worker and subsequently interviewed by United States Capitol Police who determined that the individual was lost. The United States Capitol Police confirmed that the individual posed no threat and was escorted from the area.
