The United States Capitol Police today announced that Gloria L. Jarmon, its Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), has informed the Department that she is retiring effective September 10, 2010.

Jarmon has worked for the federal government for over 20 years, serving most of her federal career at the U.S. Government Accountability Office where for several years she was the Managing Director of Congressional Relations. Prior to her federal career, Jarmon was a senior manager with KPMG Peat Marwick and has been a certified public accountant for over 25 years. In February 2008, Jarmon joined the United States Capitol Police as the agency’s CAO.

While at the USCP, Jarmon played a key role in supporting the 2009 Presidential Inauguration, served as a pivotal player in launching the agency’s radio modernization program, in the Department receiving its first clean opinion on its financial statements, as well as in obtaining reaccreditation of the Department by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies in 2009.

“I would like to thank Gloria Jarmon publicly for her service to the Department and the federal government. Her many contributions to the U.S. Capitol Police have promoted and supported the mission of the Department. I wish Gloria a happy retirement and successful future,” said USCP Chief of Police, Phillip D. Morse, Sr.

“I will miss my work and the people at the U. S. Capitol Police, but its time for me to move to a new chapter in my life,” Jarmon said. Jarmon has indicated that she is retiring to become the chief executive officer of her own CPA financial services firm.
