On Friday, December 16, 2011, the U.S. Capitol Police will host our 12th Annual Holiday Party for sixty children (grades K through 3rd) from Savoy Elementary School in Southeast DC. The event will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Dirksen Senate Office Building in room SD-G50.

The children will be escorted by U.S. Capitol Police motorcade from Savoy Elementary School to Capitol Hill where they will be welcomed by the U.S. Capitol Police and await Santa’s arrival near the corner of First and C Streets, NE shortly before 10:00 am.

Each child will visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and receive oversized gift bags stuffed with clothing, toys and books purchased and donated by members of the U.S. Capitol Police. During the party, the children will also work on craft projects, decorate personal journals, and enjoy refreshments and live music. For many of these children, the gifts received at this event are the highlight of their holidays.

*All members of the media are welcome to attend this event.*
