USCP Investigates Suspicious Package at Capitol Visitor Center (CVC)

Today at approximately 3:30 pm, USCP responded to the South Mezzanine Door of the Capitol Vistor Center (CVC) to investigate the report of a suspicious package (unattended bag). Out of an abundance of caution, USCP evacuated the CVC as we continued our investigation. The USCP disrupted the package at approximately 5:00 pm and found nothing of a hazardous nature. The immediate area of the South Mezzanine Door remained closed while USCP continued their investigation. The surrounding area and temporary street closures reopened. The incident was cleared at approximately 5:50 pm.
