At approximately 10:30 a.m. today, the United States Capitol Police responded to a report of gunfire in the Rayburn House Office Building. The U.S. Capitol Police methodically searched the Rayburn Building, and confidently determined that there was no threat present in the Rayburn House Office Building. The building was re-opened at approximately 3:15 p.m.

The Capitol Police are thoroughly investigating the plausible explanation of what produced a loud sound that seemed like gunfire.
