On Friday, December 18, 2009, the U.S. Capitol Police will host our 10th Annual Holiday Party for sixty children (grades K through 5th) from Savoy Elementary School in Southeast DC. The event will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Dirksen Senate Office Building in room SDG50.

The children will be escorted by U.S. Capitol Police motorcade from Savoy Elementary School to Capitol Hill where they will be welcomed by Chief Phillip D. Morse, Sr., and await Santa’s arrival on horse and carriage near the corner of First and C Streets, NE between 9:15 – 9:45 am on December 18, 2009.

A gift station will be set up for the children to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus (played by U.S. Capitol Police officers). We will distribute over 100 oversized gift bags to the children stuffed with toys and books donated by members of the U.S. Capitol Police and other businesses. During the party, the children will also complete craft projects, and enjoy refreshments and entertainment. For many of these children, the gifts received at this event are the highlight of their holidays.

If there are any questions about these events or our security procedures, you may contact the United States Capitol Police Public Information Office at 202-224-1677.
