UNREGISTERED FIREARM + UNREGISTERED AMMUNITION 17:11:00 251119003519 R/O-1 discovered an empty handgun holster while performing an administrative search in the Capitol Visitor Center. CIS responded for further investigation. Upon further investigation, the Suspect claimed that they had a handgun in their hotel room. The Suspect consented to a search of the hotel room and signed a written consent form. SOD & CIS responded to the hotel to conduct the search. During the search, a .45 caliber Sig Sauer was found with ten rounds of .45 caliber ammunition. Two additional feeding devices were found in a leather shoulder holster both containing eight rounds of ammunition. At approximately 1711 hours, the Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
POSSESSION PROHIBITED WEAPON + POSSESSION OF UNREGISTERED AMMUNITION 7:28:00 251104003385 R/O-1 and R/O-2 observed an illegally parked vehicle in the 400 block of Delaware Avenue NE. R/O-1 & 2 noticed a rifle case inside the vehicle and requested a gun detection dog. Metropolitan Police Department responded with a K9, which alerted on the drivers side door. A search of the vehicle revealed thirty-seven (37) 12-gauge shotgun shells, a bow with multiple arrows, multiple knives, a machete, and a pair of brass knuckles. As the Suspect returned to the vehicle, a WALES/NCIC check was conducted and returned with no wants or warrants. The Suspect was then placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
CARRYING A PISTOL WITHOUT A LICENSE (OUTSIDE HOME OR PLACE OF BUSINESS), POSSESSION OF UNREGISTERED FIREARM, POSSESSION OF UNREGISTERED AMMUNITION, POSSESSION OF A LARGE CAPACITY AMMUNITION FEEDING DEVICE 15:51:00 251016003262 R/O observed a vehicle with expired tags travelling in the Unit Block of Independence Avenue SW. A traffic stop was subsequently conducted at the same location. Further investigation confirmed the tags were expired, so the process of towing the vehicle from the scene was initiated. While inventorying the items within the vehicle, R/O discovered a portable gun safe securing a handgun loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition, as well as a spare magazine containing 10 rounds of additional ammunition. An inquiry through the Metropolitan Police Department's Gun Registration Unit revealed the sole occupant of the vehicle did not possess a license to carry a pistol, nor was the firearm registered, in the District of Columbia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. A/O-1 and A/O-2 responded to process the scene. S/A-1 and S/A-2 were advised of the offense.
CARRYING A LICENSED PISTOL IN A PROHIBITED LOCATION 11:33:00 251008003197 R/O responded to the Unit Block of Columbus Circle NE to assist our federal partners for the report of a firearm discovered by security in the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building. During the screening process it was discovered the Suspect was in possession of a .32 caliber semi-automatic handgun. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported for processing. A/O responded and processed the scene.
CARRYING A PISTOL W/O A LICENSE (OUTSIDE HOME OR PLACE OF BUSINESS), POSS. OF UNREG. FIREARM/UNLAWFUL POSS. OF A FIREARM DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE, POSS. OF UNREG. AMMUNITION, POSS. OF A LARGE CAPACITY AMMUNITION FEEDING DEVICE 10:41:00 251007003189 R/O observed an individual who appeared to be monitoring a demonstration in the Unit Block of First Street NE. While speaking with the Suspect, the R/O observed what appeared to be a knife in the Suspect's pocket. R/O instructed the Suspect to lift up their sweatshirt to expose their waistband. R/O noticed a black handle of a handgun in a holster on the Suspects waistband. A frisk of the Suspect confirmed a handgun with a 15 round magazine containing 14 rounds of ammunition. S/A was notified and confirmed via the MPD Gun Registration Unit the firearm was not registered and the Suspect did not have a District of Columbia conceal carry permit. A/O was notified and processed the scene. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
CARRY A PISTOL W/O A LICENSE (OUTSIDE HOME OR PLACE OF BUSINESS), POSS. OF UNREG. FIREARM/UNLAWFUL POSS. OF A FIREARM DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE, POSS. OF UNREG. AMMUNITION, POSS. OF A LARGE CAPACITY AMMUNITION FEEDING DEVICE 8:45:00 251007003188 R/O observed a vehicle displaying expired tags traveling in the Unit Block of Independence Avenue SW. A traffic stop was conducted in the same location. A WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect's vehicle confirmed the registration was expired. Prior to towing the vehicle, the R/O asked the Suspect if there were any weapons inside the vehicle. The Suspect answered in the affirmative and gave the R/O consent to search the vehicle. R/O located a handgun loaded with a 15 round magazine containing 9 rounds of 9 millimeter ammunition under the driver's seat. S/A was notified and confirmed via the MPD Gun Registration Unit the firearm was not registered and the Suspect did not have a District of Columbia conceal carry permit. A/O was notified and processed the scene. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
POSSESSION OF UNREGISTERED FIREARM, POSSESSION OF UNREGISTERED AMMUNITION 11:13:00 251003003166 R/O-1 and R/O-2 responded to the 2000 Block of Bladensburg Road NE for the report of a gun found in a vehicle. The vehicle was found abandoned in the intersection of Washington Avenue and D Street SW and towed by Always Towing. While conducting a search of the vehicle, a tow company employee discovered the handgun. CSS recovered a semi-automatic handgun loaded with a twelve round magazine containing eleven rounds of 9mm ammunition. Two empty twelve round magazines were also recovered. CIS was notified and will continue to investigate.
CPWL - CARRYING A PISTOL W/O LICENSE + UNREGISTERED FIREARM UNREGISTERED AMMUNITION MISUSE OF TAGS ALTERED TAGS NO VALID PERMIT 20:47:00 250920003044 R/O while on routine patrol, observed a vehicle traveling westbound in the 500 Block of D Street NE displaying an expired tag. R/O conducted a traffic stop in the 300 Block of Maryland Avenue NE. The driver stated the vehicle was obtained from a dealership and the tag came from another vehicle they owned. A WALES/NCIC check through USCP Communications revealed the no driving status in Maryland, the District of Columbia or Virginia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. During the inventory search of the vehicle, a .40 caliber S&W handgun with 1 round in the chamber and a 10 round magazine was discovered. A DC Gun Registry check revealed the Suspect does not have a concealed carry permit in the District of Columbia. CSS responded to recover the weapon. CIS responded to question the Suspect and further investigate.
POSSESSION OF UNREGISTERED AMMUNITION + POSSESSION OF A LARGE CAPACITY AMMUNITION FEEDING DEVICE 18:36:00 250918003024 R/O observed a vehicle with an expired tag, driving erratically though stalled traffic southbound in the 600 Block of North Capitol Street NW. A traffic stop was conducted in the Unit Block of Louisiana Avenue NW. A WALES/NCIC check of the vehicle revealed that it was associated with a total of $13,580 worth of unpaid traffic citations originating out of the District of Columbia. The District of Columbia Department of Public Works (DC DPW) was notified to tow the vehicle, and an inventory search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, a pistol case was discovered underneath the driver's seat containing a large capacity magazine loaded with 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition. An additional large capacity magazine was discovered in the trunk loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition. A check with the MPD Gun Registration Unit confirmed that the Suspect did not possess a license to carry a firearm in the District of Columbia, nor was the ammunition registered. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. CIS were notified and conducted a custodial interview of the Suspect.
CARRYING A PISTOL WITHOUT A LICENSE (OUTSIDE HOME OR PLACE OF BUISNESS) + POSSESSION OF UNREGISTERED FIREARM / UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM OR DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE POSSESSION OF UNREGISTERED AMMUNITION 02:29:00 250910002917 R/O was parked in the 100 Block of Constitution Avenue NE, when an unknown vehicle pulled along the passenger side of the cruiser and a male voice said, "help me". Upon approach, R/O made contact with the driver who stated he was lost. R/O observed an Apache hard case in the rear cabin of the vehicle, which in R/Os experience are commonly used for transporting/storing firearms. R/O inquired if the Suspect had a firearm in the vehicle, which the Suspect confirmed. At this time, the Suspect was detained. While R/O continued to investigate, R/O discovered a black in color handgun, upholstered placed underneath a backpack. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. CSS responded to process and seize the recovered firearm. Further investigation revealed, the firearm had no magazine loaded into the magazine well of the firearm, and the firearms chamber had one spent casing occupying the chamber of the firearm. On the passengers side floorboard of the vehicle, a magazine designed to fit the firearm was recovered loaded with seven live rounds. Four additional loose rounds were recovered in the trunk of the vehicle.
