Office of Professional Responsibility
Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR)- The OPR completes administrative investigations relating to the conduct of department personnel, and inspections of its organizational components. The OPR records and investigates allegations of misconduct by Capitol Police employees generated from within the Department or outside sources.
- OPR will investigate all Category 1 complaints and any case related to weapons or ammunition or any other issue as designated by the Chief of Police.
- Category 2 complaints will be handled at the Division level, but will be monitored by an assigned OPR Investigator.
- OPR will oversee investigations for all sworn personnel at the rank of Captain and below (and civilian equivalents). All matters involving personnel at the rank of Inspector and above (and civilian equivalents) will be referred to the Office of the Inspector General.
