On Monday, September 19, 2005, beginning at 2:15 p.m., members of the American Disabled for Attendant Programs Today (ADAPT) entered and occupied multiple Congressional office buildings. Some of the members had entered private space within the buildings, and were required to be removed. After several verbal warnings went unanswered, the United States Capitol Police began placing those individuals under arrest. A total of 104 people were arrested and charged with unlawful assembly under the D.C. code of  law. The United States Capitol Police were aware of the special needs that many members of ADAPT had, and all of their needs were appropriately attended.

If there are any questions about these events or security procedures, you may contact the United States Capitol Police Public Information Office at 202-224-1677.
