Armed Subject Apprehended on U.S. Capitol Grounds

At approximately 1:00 p.m., U.S. Capitol Police officers observed a white male walking south on First St., NE from D St., NE, carrying a shotgun and a sword. USCP officers quickly apprehended the subject and he was transported to U.S. Capitol Police Headquarters at 119 D St., NE for processing. There were no injuries sustained during the arrest process.
U.S. Capitol Police located a vehicle associated with the individual, and investigated the suspicious vehicle in the area of North Capitol and D Street, NW. The vehicle has since been declared safe by the USCP Hazardous Devices Unit; the entire incident remains under investigation by the USCP Criminal Investigation Division.
Michael Steven Gorbey, 38, was arrested and is being charged with "Felon in Possession of a Firearm." Other charges are pending.
