WASHINGTON -- On Friday, October 15, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held to celebrate the opening of the new U.S. Capitol Police K-9 facility. The facility is located on the U.S. Botanical Gardens Nursery Facility at 4700 Shepherd Parkway SW, Washington, DC. This state of the art facility will provide classrooms, a K-9 health and treatment center, fitness center, locker facilities, and conference space to further enhance the training for both K-9’s and their handlers.

The U.S. Capitol Police Board and Capitol Police employees will be in attendance along with selected Members of Congress and committee staff who are expected to attend. Mr. Alan M. Hantman, Architect of the Capitol, will be the key-note speaker. A tour of the new facility and a K-9 demonstration will immediately follow the conclusion of the ceremony.
