Dedication Ceremony: American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial

The dedication ceremony for the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 11:00a.m. at the memorial site, 150 Washington Ave., SW (Washington Ave. & Second St. SW). Setup for this event will impact all streets surrounding the memorial beginning on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Street Closures:

Please note that appropriate signage will be posted to provide directions for detours that will be in place during this period. Setup for this event will impact all streets surrounding the memorial. People traveling in this immediate area during the times noted below should allow for extra travel time due to the traffic restrictions associated with this event.

Washington Avenue should reopen completely no later than Monday, October 6 at 5:00 AM

• Washington Avenue, SW Southbound will close on Wednesday, October 1 at 5:00 AM, turning Northbound lanes into two-way traffic
• Washington Avenue, SW Northbound will close on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 6:00 PM, effectively closing Washington Avenue, SW, between C Street SW and Independence Avenue
• Washington Avenue, SW Southbound between Independence and Delaware Avenue will close on Sunday, October 5 between 6:00 AM and 1:00 PM
• Second Street, SW, from Independence Avenue, SW to C Streets will close on Thursday, October 2 at 5:00 AM and will reopen on Monday, October 6 at 5:00 AM
• Independence Avenue, SW — in both directions — will be closed from First Street, SW to Third Street, SW with all Westbound traffic diverted North on First Street, SW, from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 5
