Off-Duty U.S. Capitol Police Officer Shot

This evening an off-duty U.S. Capitol Police officer was involved in an off-duty shooting in Prince Georges County, Maryland. The off-duty U.S. Capitol Police officer and a suspect exchanged gunfire. The off-duty U.S. Capitol Police officer was shot and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was shot multiple times and transported to a local hospital. A bystander was also treated for a graze wound and transported to a local hospital.

The Prince Georges County Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation in a cooperative effort with the full support of the U.S. Capitol Police.
