Man Arrested With Unregistered Firearms and Unregistered Ammunition on U.S. Capitol Grounds

On Sunday, April 7, 2013, at approximately 12:48 p.m., United States Capitol Police Officers conducted a contact of a male subject on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol Building. During the course of the preliminary interview, the subject informed the officers he had firearms in his personal vehicle, parked on the Unit Block of Constitution Avenue, NW.

A consensual search of the vehicle revealed three firearms and several rounds of ammunition. The individual was arrested without incident, and was transported to USCP HQ for processing.

The subject is identified as 59 year old Ty Carroll Mitchum of Clearwater, Florida. Mitchum has been charged with Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.
