U.S. Capitol Police Arrest 33 Demonstrators in Senate Office Buildings

This afternoon, beginning at approximately 2 p.m., the United States Capitol Police (USCP) responded to the atrium in the Hart Senate Office Building for reported demonstration activity.

USCP officers warned the demonstrators to cease and desist with their unlawful demonstration activities. Those who refused to cease and desist were placed under arrest. Three adult males and two adult females were arrested in the atrium.

USCP officers also responded to five other locations in the Senate Office Buildings for reports of demonstration activities. After officers arrived at these scenes, they warned the demonstrators to cease and desist with their unlawful demonstration activities. Those who refused were placed under arrest. Seventeen adult females and 11 adult males were arrested.

As of 4:30 p.m., a total of 33 individuals were arrested and charged with D.C. Code ยง22-1307, Crowding, Obstructing, or Incommoding. One adult male also was charged with resisting arrest in a 4th floor hallway of the Russell Building.
