Washington, DC (12/17/12) — On Wednesday, December 19, 2012, the U.S. Capitol Police will host its 13th Annual Holiday Party for sixty children (grades K through 3rd) from Savoy Elementary School in Southeast DC. The event will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Dirksen Senate Office Building in room SD-G50.

The children will be transported by U.S. Capitol Police escort from Savoy Elementary School to Capitol Hill where they will be welcomed by the U.S. Capitol Police and await Santa’s arrival near the corner of First and C Streets, NE shortly before 10:00 am.

During the event, each child will visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus where they will receive oversized gift bags stuffed with clothing, toys and books donated by members of the U.S. Capitol Police. Additionally, the children will work on craft projects, play games, and enjoy a holiday lunch and live music. For many of these children, the gifts received at this event are the highlight of their holidays.
