Washington, D.C. (12/17/13) — On Friday, December 20, 2013, the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) will host its 14th Annual Holiday Party for sixty children (grades Kindergarten through 3rd) from Savoy Elementary School in Southeast D.C. The event will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in room SD-G50 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
For the USCP, this event is one of the highlights of our year and one of our signature community policing events. We are honored to be able to continue to strengthen our bond with the community, build trust, and give back to the Washington, D.C. community.
The children will be transported by buses from Savoy Elementary School to Capitol Hill where they will be welcomed by members of the USCP and await Santa's arrival near the corner of First and C Streets, N.E. shortly before 10:00 am.
During the event, each child will visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus where they will receive oversized gift bags stuffed with clothing, toys and books donated by members of the USCP. Additionally, the children will work on craft projects, play games, and enjoy a holiday lunch and live music. For many of these children, the gifts received at this event are the highlight of their holidays.
Timeline for the event is attached.
