Effective immediately, July 6, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., the Senate Democratic and Republican Cloakrooms, along with portions of the Senate Press Galleries in the United States Capitol, will be closed for asbestos testing. This testing is a precaution due to a small amount of asbestos falling into the duct work that serves these areas during construction.

The timeframe for reopening of these rooms will be determined once the air testing has been completed. Additional information on reopening will be posted at a later time.
