USCP Clears False Bomb Threat
The United States Capitol Police (USCP) is working with its federal partners to track down the person(s) who e-mailed a false bomb threat directed at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters in Washington, D.C.
At approximately 1:07 p.m., on Thursday, September 11, the USCP Command Center was notified about a potential bomb threat directed towards the DNC. USCP officers immediately responded and checked the entire building and surrounding area.
The USCP enhanced its security posture following yesterday’s shooting in Utah -- the day before the bomb threat was sent. That posture included increased patrols across the Capitol Complex and outside the DNC and the Republican National Committee (RNC) headquarters.
At approximately 3:50 p.m., the building was cleared by the USCP. Nothing dangerous was found.
Agents with the USCP’s Threat Assessment Section will be working with their federal partners to find the person who sent the false bomb threat in.
