USCP Officer Billy Evans Will Lie in Honor in the Rotunda

Today, the body of United States Capitol Police Officer William "Billy" Evans will lie in honor in the Capitol Rotunda.

The 41-year old died in the line of duty protecting the U.S. Capitol on April 2, 2021. A second officer who was injured in the same attack at a checkpoint was hospitalized and is recovering from his injuries at home.

Evans, a father of two, was an 18-year veteran of our department. This honor bestowed upon him for his service is one reserved traditionally for presidents, members of Congress and other dignitaries.

A Congressional tribute will be held at 11:00 a.m.

A viewing period for members of the U.S. Capitol Police starts at 12:00 p.m. That will be followed by a viewing period for Members of Congress from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
