August 31, 2022

The annual Labor Day Capitol Concert featuring the National Symphony Orchestra will be held on the West Front of the United States Capitol on Sunday, September 4, at 8:00 p.m.

The gates will open to the public at 3:00 p.m. There also will be a concert dress rehearsal earlier that day at 3:30 p.m.

Both events are open to the public and tickets are not required. For more information about the concert, please visit the Kennedy Center website.

Next of kin has been notified in relation to this morning's incident. The man has been identified as 29-year old Richard A. York the 3rd of Delaware. It is still not clear why he chose to drive to the Capitol Complex.

Just after 4:00 a.m., a man drove his car into the vehicle barricade at East Capitol Street and Second Street.

While the man was getting out of the car, it became engulfed in flames.


August 3, 2022

Two men who are accused of being involved in a series of armed carjackings across the Washington, DC area are facing felony charges because of the work of several United States Capitol Police (USCP) officers.

Just before 5:00 p.m. last night, a USCP patrol officer spotted a stolen Mercedes C-Class driving eastbound, near the U.S. Capitol, on Independence Avenue, SE.

According to law enforcement reports, the driver and the passenger were believed to be armed and dangerous and wanted for open cases across the region.

"We are aware that demonstrators are planning to protest political issues at the Congressional Baseball Game for Charity. Our mission is to protect the Members of Congress during this family event, so we have a robust security plan in place. We urge anyone who is thinking about causing trouble at the charity game to stay home.

This afternoon the United States Capitol Police (USCP) arrested 35 people, including 17 Members of Congress, for blocking First Street, NE, near the U.S. Supreme Court.

The group of demonstrators went into the street around 1:15 p.m.

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) has been working with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia on the June 16, 2022, Unlawful Entry case that involved a group of nine people associated with The Late Show.


July 6, 2022

This afternoon the United States Capitol Police took two Molotov cocktails, and the suspect in possession of them, off the streets.

Around 3:30 p.m., two USCP patrol officers received a report that someone had Molotov cocktails along Massachusetts Avenue, NW, just west of North Capitol Street.

According to the officers, the suspect threw one of the Molotov cocktails at the officers while the suspect was trying to light it. The suspect tried to get away, but the officers stopped him.

On Monday, July 4, 2022, the 42nd annual "A Capitol Fourth" Concert will air live from the West Front of the United States Capitol.

After two years of virtual presentations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the concert will be open to the public.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. and the gates will open to the public at 3 p.m.


June 3, 2022

A Michigan man was arrested outside of the U.S. Capitol this morning after he was found with a fake badge, a BB gun, body armor, high capacity magazines and other ammunition.

Just before 5:00 am, a U.S. Capitol Police patrol officer started talking to a man who had parked his 2017 Dodge Challenger near Peace Circle, on the West side of the Capitol.

The man was identified as 53 year old Jerome Felipe out of Flint, Michigan.

Today an indictment against a United States Capitol Police (USCP) officer was unsealed.

USCP Officer Thomas Smith was indicted on Thursday by a grand jury for charges related to a 2020 on-duty crash.
