A team of United States Capitol Police officers arrested two Washington, DC men who crashed a stolen Ford Explorer into a construction barrier a block from the U.S. Capitol.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. two USCP patrol officers near Union Station spotted the stolen Ford Explorer, which was believed to be involved in an armed carjacking in the District of Columbia.
The officers followed the stolen SUV a few blocks when the Ford Explorer crashed into an orange construction barrier near Second Street, SE and East Capitol Street.
Two men bailed from the SUV and ran away.
At approximately 1:40 p.m. on January 12, a woman parked a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado in the ‘No Parking' zone in front of U.S. Capitol Police headquarters. The woman was identified as Kery Lynn McAttee.

On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, six United States Capitol Police officers and seven members of the DC Fire and EMS Department were honored for saving the life of a Capitol Hill mother of two.
The rescue happened just before 7:00 am on Wednesday, October 27.
U.S. Rep. Vicky Hartzler found jogger Delya Sommerville on the ground near the South Barricade and immediately alerted the Capitol Police.
This morning at approximately 7:40 am, our officers in the Longworth Building spotted the image of a handgun in a bag on the x-ray screen.
The man was tracked down four minutes later and arrested.
The United States Capitol Police agrees with the Inspector General that the Department must continue to improve and expand its intelligence and protective capabilities. This is vital for carrying out our critical mission.

Last night the United States Capitol Police arrested a fugitive who was in possession of a gun, which was loaded with a large capacity magazine.
At approximately 4:50pm, on October 26, USCP officers spotted a stolen vehicle driving eastbound near Independence Avenue, SE, and 3rd Street, SE.
The attacks on January 6 and April 2 prompted the United States Capitol Police Memorial Fund to distribute several hundred thousand dollars to USCP families.
Before January 6th, the Memorial Fund had approximately $800,000. Today it has nearly $400,000.
