WASHINGTON, DC – The 41st annual Marine Corps Marathon is taking place on Sunday, October 30, 2016. In order to ensure the safety of the approximately 30,000 runners expected to participate in event, there will be several street closures throughout the Capitol Grounds beginning at approximately 8:30 a.m.
The United States Capitol Police will implement traffic cuts and street closures as necessary throughout the day.
WASHINGTON, DC – On Sunday, September 4, 2016, the annual Labor Day Capitol Concert, featuring the National Symphony Orchestra, will be held on the West Front of the United States Capitol beginning at 8 p.m. The gates will open to the public at 3 p.m.
There will also be a concert dress rehearsal on Sunday beginning at 3:30 p.m. Both concerts are open to the public andno tickets are required.
WASHINGTON, DC – Chief Matthew R. Verderosa announced that the United States Capitol Police (USCP) have launched its new public website today – www.USCP.gov.
“We have been working for the past few months to redesign our website in order to make it more user-friendly – especially for those using mobile devices,” noted Verderosa. “We think all of the individuals who visit our website will find the new www.USCP.gov easier to navigate and the amount of information provided more extensive.”
WASHINGTON, DC – Chief Matthew R. Verderosa announced today that Ms. Eva Malecki is the U.S. Capitol Police’s (USCP) new Communications Director.
Malecki was detailed in April 2016 from the Architect of the Capitol’s office to assist as the USCP’s Acting Communications Director. She recently joined the USCP to serve in the role.
WASHINGTON, DC – On Monday, July 4, 2016, the annual “A Capitol Fourth” Concert, celebrating America’s Independence Day, will be broadcast live from the West Front of the United States Capitol.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. on Monday, and gates will open to the public at 3 p.m.
There will also be a full concert dress rehearsal for this event on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at 8 p.m.
Gates will open to the public on Sunday at 3 p.m. Both events are open to the public and no tickets are required.
