This afternoon, over the course of several hours, the United States Capitol Police (USCP) responded to several offices in the Senate Office Buildings for reported demonstration activity. After officers arrived on the scene, they warned the demonstrators to cease and desist with their unlawful demonstration activities. Those who refused to cease and desist were placed under arrest, and charged with D.C. Code §22-1307, Crowding, Obstructing, or Incommoding.
As of 4 p.m., 19 adult males and 21 adult females were arrested and transported to USCP Headquarters for processing.
On Tuesday, July 4, 2017, the annual "A Capitol Fourth" Concert, celebrating America's Independence Day, will be broadcast live from the West Front of the United States Capitol.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4, and gates will open to the public at 3 p.m.
There will also be a full concert dress rehearsal on Monday, July 3, 2017, at 8 p.m. Gates will open to the public on Monday at 3 p.m.
Both events are open to the public and no tickets are required.
Today, at approximately at 11:30 a.m., disability rights activists staged a planned "die-in" in the Russell Senate Office Building. Many of the demonstrators, as part of their protest activities, removed themselves from their wheelchairs and lay themselves on the floor, obstructing passage through the hallway and into nearby offices.
U.S. Capitol Police officers warned the demonstrators to cease their unlawful activities or be faced with arrest. Forty-three people (15 males and 28 females) did not cease their demonstration activities and were arrested.

"On behalf of the women and men of the United States Capitol Police, I want to extend my thanks and gratitude to Members of Congress, the Congressional community, and the many private citizens who have contacted us with well wishes and praise for our injured officers and our Department following the June 14, 2017, incident in Alexandria, Virginia. We are very appreciative of the outpouring of support.
The FBI and our federal, state and local law enforcement partner agencies in Alexandria, Virginia, and Belleville, Illinois, continue to investigate yesterday's shooting at the Eugene Simpson Stadium Park located at 400 East Monroe Avenue in Alexandria, Virginia. The FBI continues to investigate the single shooter, James Hodgkinson, as well as his activities and social media impressions in the months leading up to yesterday's incident.
"I want to commend Special Agents Crystal Griner, David Bailey, and Henry Cabrera for their heroic and appropriate response in protecting the Members and others today during their practice for the Congressional baseball game.
"I'm grateful that Special Agent Griner is in good condition in the hospital having been shot in the ankle, and Special Agent Bailey was treated and released having sustained a minor injury during the incident.
The United States Capitol Police (USCP) is advising the public that several USCP office telephone numbers are being used as part of a "Caller ID Spoofing" fraud scheme that has affected police departments across the country.
On Sunday, May 28, 2017, the annual National Memorial Day Concert, which honors American veterans and members of the U.S. Armed Services, will be broadcast live from the West Front of the United States Capitol.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. on Sunday, and gates will open to the public at 5 p.m.
There also will be a full concert dress rehearsal for this event on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 8 p.m.

WASHINGTON, DC – The 36th Annual National Peace Officers' Memorial Service will be held on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017. This ceremony honors the law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty.

On Monday, May 15 beginning at 12:01 a.m., the streets listed below near the West Front of the Capitol will be closed to vehicular traffic. These streets will re-open at 5 p.m.
