On Sunday, May 26, 2019, the annual National Memorial Day Concert will be broadcast live from the West Front of the United States Capitol. This year's event marks the 30th anniversary broadcast of the concert. The program honors our servicemen and women, their families, and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
The 38th Annual National Peace Officers' Memorial Service will be held on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. This ceremony honors law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty. The Roll Call of Heroes read during the ceremony will honor the 228 peace officers who lost their lives in the line of duty during calendar year 2018.

Chief Matthew R. Verderosa announced today that he will retire from the United States Capitol Police (USCP) on May 31, 2019, after 34 years in law enforcement, including three years as the Chief of Police.
On February 5, 2019, President Donald J. Trump will deliver his State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress in the Chamber of the House of Representatives beginning at 9 p.m.
Given the high level of security surrounding the event, the United States Capitol Police (USCP) is responsible for a significant amount of preparation and coordination with its numerous law enforcement partners, including the U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Park Police, and Metropolitan Police Department.
The Capitol Police Board announced today the selection of Michael A. Bolton to be the United States Capitol Police (USCP) Inspector General, effective January 20, 2019. Under Public Law 109-55, Congress established the USCP Office of Inspector General (OIG). The Inspector General reports directly to the Capitol Police Board, and heads the OIG. The OIG supervises and conducts audits, inspections, and investigations involving USCP programs, functions, systems, and operations.
For several years, the United States Capitol Police (USCP) has produced a summary that reports on the arrests made by the Department. The report is compiled and is generated weekly by the USCP Public Information Office, and it was distributed via email.
The late President George H.W. Bush will lie in state in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018, through 7 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Members of the public and Congressional community are invited to pay their respects at the U.S. Capitol.
Following a private arrival ceremony to include President Bush's family and Members of Congress at 5 p.m., the U.S. Capitol Rotunda will open to the public at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018. All visitors will enter through the Capitol Visitor Center.
