At approximately 9:15 a.m., the United States Capitol Police (USCP) Hazardous Devices Section responded to a report of one suspicious package addressed to a Member of Congress at a Congressional Offsite Mail Screening Facility. The facility was evacuated as a precaution.
The running of the 43rd annual Marine Corps Marathon will occur on Sunday, October 28, 2018. In order to ensure the safety of the approximately 24,000 runners expected to participate in event, there will be several street closures throughout the Capitol Grounds beginning at approximately 6 a.m.
The United States Capitol Police will implement traffic cuts and street closures as necessary throughout the day. All street closures and times are subject to change. Motorists will likely encounter delays and are encouraged to seek alternative routes.

United States Capitol Police officers responded to multiple instances of unlawful demonstration activities on Friday, October 5, 2018.
A total of 101 individuals were arrested. Additional details are below.
During the course of the day, 78 individuals were arrested throughout the Senate Office Buildings, and they were charged with D.C. Code §22-1307, Crowding, Obstructing, or Incommoding.
Today, the United States Capitol Police arrested the Suspect who allegedly posted private, identifying information (doxxing) about one or more United States Senators to the internet.
On Sunday, September 2, 2018, the annual Labor Day Capitol Concert, featuring the National Symphony Orchestra, will be held on the West Front of the United States Capitol beginning at 8 p.m. The gates will open to the public at 3 p.m.

The late Senator John S. McCain will lie in state in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on Friday, August 31, 2018. Members of the public are invited to pay their respects at the U.S. Capitol. Following a private arrival ceremony to include Senator McCain's family and Members of Congress, the U.S. Capitol Rotunda will open to the public from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Friday, August 31. All visitors will enter through the Capitol Visitor Center.
On June 28, 2018, in the atrium of the Hart Senate Office Building, United States Capitol Police charged approximately 575 individuals with unlawfully demonstrating. They were charged with D.C. Code §22-1307, Crowding, Obstructing, or Incommoding. They were processed on the scene and released that evening.
Individuals who were charged and desire to pay their fines may do so at U.S. Capitol Police Headquarters, 119 D Street, NE, beginning 24 hours after their arrest. The Prisoner Processing Section is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, the 38th annual "A Capitol Fourth" Concert, celebrating America's Independence Day, will air live from the West Front of the United States Capitol.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, and gates will open to the public at 3 p.m.
There will also be a full concert dress rehearsal on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, beginning at 8 p.m. Gates will open to the public at 3 p.m.
Both events are open to the public and no tickets are required.
On Sunday, May 27, 2018, the annual National Memorial Day Concert will be broadcast live from the West Front of the United States Capitol. The event honors the military service of all women and men in uniform, their families, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. on Sunday, and gates will open to the public at 5 p.m.
The 37th Annual National Peace Officers' Memorial Service will be held on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. This ceremony honors law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty. The Roll Call of Heroes read during the ceremony will honor the 199 police officers who lost their lives in 2017 and previous years.
