On Monday, January 28, 2008, the State of the Union Address will take place in the United States Capitol at approximately 9:00 p.m. The Capitol Square will be restricted to authorized pedestrians at 6:00 p.m.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., U.S. Capitol Police officers observed a white male walking south on First St., NE from D St., NE, carrying a shotgun and a sword. USCP officers quickly apprehended the subject and he was transported to U.S. Capitol Police Headquarters at 119 D St., NE for processing.

On Friday, December 14, 2007, the United States Capitol Police will host the 8th Annual Holiday Party for sixty Birney children.

A federal grand jury has returned a one-count indictment against a U.S. Capitol Police Officer, Karen E. Emory, 36, of Waldorf, Maryland, charging her with one misdemeanor count of Willfully Injuring or Committing Any Depredation Against Any Property of the United States, announced U.S. Attorney Jeffrey A. Taylor and U.S. Capitol Police Chief Phillip D. Morse, Sr.

USCP made 189 arrests at the US Capitol for individuals who crossed police lines and attempted to enter secure areas near the Capitol. One felony arrest for Possession of an Incendiary Device.

On Thursday, July 19, 2007, a United States Capitol Police officer had an interaction with Congressman Christopher Shays on the West Front of the Capitol wherein the Congressman acted in a manner that was inappropriate.
