DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY - $1000+ - FELONY + ADDITIONAL CHARGES: ATTEMPT THEFT 1 (STOLEN AUTO) UNLAWFUL ENTRY OF A MOTOE VEHICLE 09:22:00 230607001308 R/O responded to the Unit Block of E Street NE for a report shattered glass on a parked vehicle. While on the scene, R/O made contact with the Complainant who stated they parked their vehicle on the lot on June 6, 2023 at 0700 hours. When the Complainant returned to his vehicle, the back passenger window was shattered and the steering column was destroyed in an apparent attempt to steal the vehicle. CSS responded and processed the scene. S/A was notified and will continue to investigate.
THEFT II 11:24:00 230606001292 R/O responded to the Botanic Garden for a report of a theft. Once on the scene, the Complainant stated to R/O, an unknown Suspect stole a plant from a garden display on or about June 5, 2023 at 1400 hours through June 6, 2023, 1010 hours. Attempts to locate the Suspect was met with negative results. CSS responded and processed the scene. CIS was notified and will continue to investigate.
TRAFFIC - PERMIT-NO VALID + ADDITIONAL CHARGE: TRAFFIC - MISUSE OF TAGS 16:42:00 230606001298 R/O-1 and R/O-2 observed a vehicle with a temporary tag that appeared to be fictitious, and travelled eastbound in the Unit Block of Columbus Circle NE. A WALES/NCIC check revealed no valid registration for the vehicle's tags. A traffic stop was conducted in the 100 Block of D Street NE. A WALES/NCIC check revealed the Suspect had no valid permit status in the District of Columbia, Virginia, or Maryland. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
TRAFFIC - PERMIT-NO VALID 14:53:00 230606001295 R/O observed a vehicle drive straight through a left turn only lane at the intersection of First Street and Massachusetts Avenue NE. A traffic stop was conducted in the 300 Block of Massachusetts Avenue NE. A WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect's Oklahoma identification card revealed the Suspect had no valid permit in Oklahoma, the District of Columbia, Virginia, or Maryland. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
TRAFFIC - MISUSE OF TAGS + CHARGES: COUNTERFEIT VEHICLE DOCS 12:59:00 230605001278 R/O observed a vehicle operating without a front tag in the Unit Block of Columbus Circle NE. A WALES/NCIC check of the rear tag revealed the tag was registered to a different vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted in the 100 Block of Massachusetts Avenue NW. The Suspect presented false registration documentation. A subsequent WALES/NCIC check revealed the vehicle was not registered in the District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia. The Suspect was placed under arrest, and transported to Headquarters for processing.
TRAFFIC - PERMIT-NO VALID + ADDITIONAL CHARGES: FAILED TO EXHIBIT PERMIT 17:01:00 230605001287 R/O observed a vehicle with a dark tinted plastic covering the rear tag in the Unit Block of Columbus Circle NE. R/O conducted a traffic stop at the same location. A WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect revealed no permit status in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia. The Suspect was placed under arrest, and transported to Headquarters for processing.
TRAFFIC - DUI ALCOHOL OR DRUGS + ADDITIONAL CHARGES: TRAFFIC-PERMIT-NO VALID POSS OF OPEN CONTAINER OF ALCOHOL-VEHICLE 02:08:00 230605001277 R/O conducted a welfare check after observing two individuals who appeared unconscious in the front seats of a running vehicle located in the 200 Block of Pennsylvania Avenue NW. Upon approach, R/O observed a box of beer and numerous open containers of alcohol on the floorboard. The person in the driver's seat was slow to respond, and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitted from the individuals breath. SFSTs were conducted and numerous signs of impairment were observed. Additionally, a WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect revealed the individual had no permit status in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
TRAFFIC - PERMIT-NO VALID + ADDITIONAL CHARGE: TRAFFIC - MISUSE OF TAGS 17:22:00 230604001276 R/O conducted a rolling WALES/NCIC check on temporary Virginia tags affixed to a vehicle travelling in the Unit Block of D Street NW, which revealed the tags were both expired and registered to another vehicle. R/O conducted a traffic stop in the 100 Block of D Street NW. A WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect revealed the individual's Maryland permit was suspended, with no permit status in the District of Columbia or Virginia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
TRAFFIC - DUI ALCOHOL OR DRUGS + ADDITIONAL CHARGES: POSS OF OPEN CONTAINER OF ALCOHOL-VEHICLE 01:45:00 230604001271 R/O observed a vehicle traveling westbound in the 100 Block of Constitution Avenue NW make several traffic infractions. R/O conducted a traffic stop in the 300 Block of First Street NW. Upon approach, R/O detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the Suspect's breath, and an open bottle of alcohol was observed in the backseat of the vehicle. SFSTs were conducted, and due to multiple signs of impairment, the Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
TRAFFIC - DUI ALCOHOL OR DRUGS + ADDITIONAL CHARGES: POSSESSION OF OPEN CONTAINER OF ALCOHOL - VEHICLE TRAFFIC - MISUSE OF TAGS 10:11:00 230603001264 R/O was in the 1100 Block of South Capitol Street SE when he observed a vehicle with a non-functioning brake light. R/O conducted a traffic stop in the Unit Block of I Street SE. A WALES/NCIC inquiry revealed the tag belonged to a different vehicle. While speaking with the Suspect, R/O detected a strong odor consistent with the smell of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the Suspects breath. SFSTs were conducted, and due to multiple signs of impairment, the Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. During an inventory search of the Suspects vehicle an open bottle of Tequila was found in the rear passenger seat pocket.
