August 24, 2009 marks the 25th Anniversary of U.S. Capitol Police Sergeant Christopher Eney’s line of duty death. He was the first U.S. Capitol Police Officer to be killed in the line of duty on August 24, 1984.

The U.S. Capitol Police have identified the suspect involved in yesterday's shooting in the 200 Block of New Jersey Avenue, NW as 27 year old Kellen Anthony White of Brandywine, Maryland.
