At approximately 4:00 pm today, a man drove up to the North Barricade of the U.S. Capitol and told Capitol Police officers that he had a delivery for President Obama. After further questioning by the officers, the man admitted to having a rifle in his vehicle. He was arrested without incident and was transported to USCP HQ for processing.

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), will arrive on January 3, 2009, to evaluate the Department’s policies and procedures, operations, and administrative management and support services as it pertains to CALEA standards, Chief Phillip Morse, Sr. announced today.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. on September 5, 2008, a man drove up to a U.S. Capitol Police Officer at 2nd & Independence Ave., SE and began to ask the officer for directions. The officer observed a rifle case in the vehicle with a rifle inside of it.

The 28th Capitol Fourth Concert will be broadcast live from the West Lawn of the United States Capitol on Friday, July 4, 2008 from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday, June 21, 2008 at approximately 11:30 pm, off duty U.S. Capitol Police Officer Aidan Sims was struck by a vehicle on Kendleston Road in Glenn Dale, Maryland.
