On Tuesday, February 24, 2009, the President’s Address to a Joint Session of Congress will take place in the United States Capitol at approximately 9:00 p.m.

At approximately 4:00 pm today, a man drove up to the North Barricade of the U.S. Capitol and told Capitol Police officers that he had a delivery for President Obama. After further questioning by the officers, the man admitted to having a rifle in his vehicle. He was arrested without incident and was transported to USCP HQ for processing.

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), will arrive on January 3, 2009, to evaluate the Department’s policies and procedures, operations, and administrative management and support services as it pertains to CALEA standards, Chief Phillip Morse, Sr. announced today.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. on September 5, 2008, a man drove up to a U.S. Capitol Police Officer at 2nd & Independence Ave., SE and began to ask the officer for directions. The officer observed a rifle case in the vehicle with a rifle inside of it.
