On Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at 8:00 p.m., PBS’ A Capitol Fourth Concert will be broadcast live from the West Lawn of the United States Capitol.

The following security measures will be implemented as part of continued efforts by the U.S. Capitol Police to enhance security within the Capitol complex. These measures are precautionary, and are not predicated on any known threats.

Today at approximately 11:15 a.m., the U.S. Capitol Police arrested one protester for disorderly conduct in room 235 of the Cannon House Office Building.

Michael Smith came to the attention of the USCP when a complainant advised that he had made threatening comments that he would come to the US Capitol and force an armed confrontation with US Capitol Police Officers.
