Both vehicles were traveling at a high rate of speed and proceeded through multiple solid red lights. A traffic stop was conducted of both vehicles in the unit block of D Street, NW. The Suspect, who was operating Vehicle #1, admitted to rear-ending Vehicle #2 at the intersection of Sixth and G Streets, NE, and then fleeing the scene. A WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect revealed no permit status for the District of Columbia. R/O also observed Vehicle #1 had a damaged steering column and a punched ignition. R/O made contact with the registered owner, who did not authorize the Suspect to operate their vehicle. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing. | |

R/O and A/O conducted a stop of the Suspect. A/O recognized the Suspect as having a warrant. A WALES/NCIC check confirmed the Suspect was wanted on a District of Columbia Superior Court Bench Warrant for failure to appear. Upon approach, R/O and the Assisting Officer (A/O) noticed the driver was disoriented and confused. A/O noticed a glass bottle on the passenger seat of the vehicle, and noticed an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the Suspect's breath. SFSTs were conducted and, due to numerous signs of impairment, the Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. | |
