The vehicle passed through a solid red light at the intersection while turning left onto South Capitol Street SW. A WALES/NCIC check confirmed the expired status. R/O conducted a traffic stop in the 400 Block of South Capitol Street SW. While the Suspect grabbed their registration from the glovebox, R/O noticed a black item consistent with a firearm. A/O recognized it as a black firearm. The individual stated that the firearm belonged to someone else. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing A/O-2 and A/O-3 responded to process the scene. Upon further investigation, the firearm chamber was empty and there was no magazine in the firearm. A fifteen (15) round magazine containing ten (10) live rounds was located next to the firearm. Two more empty fifteen (15) rounds magazines were located on their duty belt. S/A was notified. S/A confirmed that the Suspect did not maintain a license to carry a firearm in the District of Columbia and that the firearm was not registered in the District of Columbia. | |

A WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect revealed no valid permit in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia, and a bench warrant out of the District of Columbia Superior Court. During the screening process, ammunition was seen on the x-ray monitor. A physical inspection of the individual's belongings revealed 11 rounds of ammunition in the individual's bag. A/O 1 responded to the scene. An inquiry through the Metropolitan Police Department Gun Registration Unit revealed the Suspect does not possess a permit to carry a firearm or ammunition in the District of Columbia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. A/O 2 and A/O 3 responded and processed the scene. | |
