The owner of the vehicle was nearby and promptly advised R/O they did not know the individual. R/O subsequently initiated a subject stop at the same location. A WALES/NCIC check of the individual revealed they were subject to a bench warrant issued through the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Once the warrant was confirmed by Communications, the Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. | |

A WALES/NCIC check of the tags revealed there was no record on file. A traffic stop was conducted at the same location. A WALES/NCIC check of the driver revealed they had a suspended Pennsylvania operator's permit and no permit status in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia. During the course of the stop, the driver admitted to possessing a concealed carry permit and having a firearm in a bag on the back seat of the vehicle. A subsequent search resulted in the discovery of a handgun loaded with a twenty-one (21) round magazine containing eight (8) rounds of ammunition. An inquiry through the Metropolitan Police Department Gun Registration Unit revealed the individual possessed a valid concealed carry permit for the District of Columbia, but the recovered firearm was not properly registered. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. R/O 2 and R/O 3 responded to process the scene. R/O 4 and R/O 5 were notified. | |
