A traffic stop was conducted in the 100 Block of Independence Avenue SE. Upon approach, R/O discovered two counterfeit temporary Florida tags. A WALES/NCIC check of the tags came back with no registration on file. The Suspect was told to step out of the vehicle so it could be towed, after which the Suspect stated that they were carrying a firearm. The Suspect was removed from the vehicle and a firearm loaded with a high capacity magazine with nine rounds of ammunition was discovered in a holster on their hip. The Metropolitan Police Department gun registry unit confirmed that the Suspect did not possess a District of Columbia carry license, nor was the firearm and ammunition registered in the District of Columbia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. CSS responded to process the scene and CIS responded to interview the Suspect. | |

The Complainant stated they parked their vehicle at that location the previous night and, upon their return the following day, discovered the vehicle's rear window was broken and several items were missing from inside. CSS responded to process the scene. CIS was notified and will continue to investigate. |
