SIMPLE ASSAULT 9:24:00 260505001438 R/O-1 and R/O-2 were approached near the Capitol South Metro Station by an individual who claimed to have been purposefully pushed while riding the metro train. The Complainant directed the officers to the person who committed the assault, who was walking nearby. A subject stop was subsequently initiated near Upper D Park located at 51 C Street SE. Once positively identified, the Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
NO PERMIT 21:23:00 260504001434 R/O observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Independence Avenue SE with an obstructed rear tag. R/O conducted a traffic stop in the 200 Block of Independence Avenue SE. A WALES/NCIC check of the driver revealed an expired Maryland driver's license, with no driving status in the District of Columbia or Virginia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
UNLAWFUL ACTIVITIES 12:08:00 260504001425 R/O observed an individual sitting outside of the South entrance of the Capitol Visitor Center displaying what appeared to be a handgun underneath their blazer. R/O made contact with the individual and confirmed the individual was armed. Further investigation revealed the individual had a concealed carry permit. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. CSS responded and processed the scene. CIS conducted a custodial interview of the Suspect.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE + POSSESSION OF OPEN CONTAINER OF ALCOHOL 20:37:00 260504001432 R/O observed a vehicle traveling southbound on the 600 Block of North Capitol Street NW with the front left tire completely flat. The vehicle stopped at the intersection of First and Columbus Circle NE where R/O conducted a traffic stop. While conversing with the driver, R/O observed an open container of a Heineken beer in the center console. R/O also noticed the driver was slow to respond, their eyes were droopy, and their speech was slurred. SFSTs were administered and due to numerous signs of impairment, the Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
CARRYING A PISTOL WITHOUT A LICENSE 16:05:00 260504001428 R/O observed a vehicle parked in the crosswalk in the Unit Block of Third Street SW with the hood up and displaying an expired registration. A WALES/NCIC check of the vehicle confirmed the expired registration. R/O made contact with the driver at the same location. While waiting for a tow, R/O asked the driver if there were any weapons in the vehicle. The driver responded in the affirmative. A search of the vehicle revealed a firearm with a magazine feeding device loaded with twelve rounds of ammunition inside a cross-body bag. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. CSS responded and processed the scene. CIS & PSB-ID conducted a custodial interview of the Suspect. An inquiry through the Metropolitan Police Department Gun Registration Unit revealed the Suspect did not possess a license to carry a firearm or ammunition in the District of Columbia.
NO PERMIT + DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE 22:05:00 260503001419 R/O observed a vehicle stopped in the Unit Block of Columbus Circle NE that failed to move when the traffic light changed. R/O conducted a traffic stop in the same location. Upon approach, R/O observed the Suspect slumped over the driver's seat and unresponsive. R/O tapped the driver's side window to wake the Suspect. A WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect revealed no driving status in the District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia. Upon the course of the investigation, R/O could detect the strong odor of alcohol coming from the Suspect. SFSTs were conducted and due to numerous signs of impairment the Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE + RESISTING ARREST SECOND DEGREE IDENTITY THEFT NO PERMIT FAIL TO OBEY OFFICER 23:44:00 260503001413 R/O observed a vehicle traveling eastbound in the 100 Block of M Street SE with no front or rear headlights running. A traffic stop was initiated in attempt to stop the vehicle in the 500 Block of M Street SE. The vehicle did not slow down, brake or attempt to pull over for R/O emergency lights. The R/O had to activate their sirens and change siren tones to get the driver to pull over. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Ninth and M Streets SE. Upon approach, R/O asked the driver for their license and registration and the Suspect stated they did not have their license on them. A WALES/NCIC check via word of mouth returned with a picture and a valid District of Columba license. R/O realized that the Suspect and the picture in the WALES/NCIC return were two separate individuals. As A/O was arriving on scene, the Suspect opened the driver side door. R/O and A/O gave the Suspect loud verbal commands to stay in the vehicle. The suspect ignored those commands, walked over to the sidewalk to act as if they were vomiting. The Suspect fled on foot running eastbound on the sidewalk. R/O caught up to the Suspect in the 1000 Block of M Street SE. While on the ground, R/O and A/O were attempting to place the Suspect in handcuffs when the Suspect tensed up their arms and attempted to pull away. The suspect was subsequently placed in handcuffs with no further issues. A/O-2 located the Suspect wallet on the front seat and discovered a Washington DC Identification card with a different name and date of birth the Suspect first provided. A WALES/NCIC check of the name on the ID card yielded a valid ID card in the District of Columbia and no status in Maryland or Virginia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. While back at processing, the Suspect was asked if they were willing to submit SFSTs and they refused.
LEAVING AFTER COLLIDING - PROPERTY DAMAGE + NO PERMIT 2:33:00 260502001407 R/O responded to a report of a traffic accident in the Third Street Tunnel just prior to exit 7. Upon arriving on scene, R/O discovered a vehicle with major damage and airbag deployment. The complainant in VEH-1 stated VEH-2 turned in front of VEH-1 too closely causing a collision. The Suspect of VEH-2 did not stop after the collision and left the scene. A canvas for the striking vehicle met with negative results. A WALES/NCIC check was conducted of the Suspect using a cell phone photo. The WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect revealed a suspended permit out of Maryland with no status in the District of Columbia or Virginia. CSS responded and took photos. CIS was notified and will continue to investigate the offense.
NO PERMIT + LOANING REGISTRATION, MISUSE OF TEMPORARY TAGS 10:15:00 260502001410 R/O observed a vehicle traveling in the 100 Block of H Street NE with suspected expired vehicle registration. A WALES/NCIC check confirmed the expired status and the tag belonging to a different vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted in the 900 Block of North Capitol Street NE. A WALES/NCIC check of the driver revealed an expired District of Columbia drivers license and no valid permit status in Maryland or Virginia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing.
NO PERMIT + COUNTERFEIT TAGS POSSESSION OF OPEN CONTAINER OF ALCOHOL 8:40:00 260502001409 R/O observed a vehicle traveling southbound in the Unit Block of Louisiana Avenue NE with suspected fraudulent temporary tags. A WALES/NCIC check of the vehicle tag revealed no registration on file. A traffic stop was conducted in the 100 Block of D Street NW. Upon approach, R/O observed the information on the temporary tag belonged to a different vehicle. R/O also smelled an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A WALES/NCIC check of the driver revealed a suspended Maryland drivers license and no driver status in the District of Columbia or Virginia. SFSTs were conducted and determined to be inconclusive. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. While conducting an inventory search of the vehicle, an open bottle of Tequila was found under the driver seat and a carton of Beatbox alcohol beverage in the driver side door. CSS responded and processed the scene.
