TRAFFIC - DUI ALCOHOL OR DRUGS + ADDITIONAL CHARGES: TRAFFIC ACCIDENT - LEAVING SCENE-PROPERTY DAMAGE POSS OF OPEN CONTAINER OF ALCOHOL-VEHICLE | 09:20:00 | 230629001521 | R/O and A/O were alerted to an MPD broadcast about a vehicle crashing into cars in the area of South Capitol Street. R/O responded to the 400 Block of Washington Avenue SW where they observed a vehicle matching the description of the broadcast and the Suspect seated on the curb. An investigation revealed that the Suspect struck a vehicle in the 1100 Block of South Capitol Street and then left the scene. The Complainant of that accident followed the Suspect to the 400 Block of Washington Avenue SW, where she then advised the Witness, who was an on duty MPD Officer, of the incident. On scene, R/O detected an overpowering smell of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the Suspects breath and person. R/O attempted to perform SFST's, however, the Suspect was unable to complete them due to his extreme impairment. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. During a search of the vehicle an open container of alcohol was found. CSS responded to process the scene. | |
TRAFFIC - DUI ALCOHOL OR DRUGS | 02:34:00 | 230629001520 | R/O observed a vehicle traveling southbound on South Capitol Street pass through a solid red light at the intersection of South Capitol and E Street SE. R/O conducted a traffic stop in the Unit Block of D Street SW. Upon approach, R/O detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the Suspects breath. SFST's were conducted and due to numerous signs of impairment, the Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. | |
TRAFFIC - PERMIT-NO VALID | 20:48:00 | 230628001519 | R/O and A/O while on patrol, observed a motorcycle with an occupant wearing no helmet traveling eastbound in the 200 Block of Massachusetts Avenue NE. R/O conducted a WALES/NCIC check which revealed no valid registration for the motorcycle's tag. A traffic stop was conducted in the 600 Block of Massachusetts Avenue NE. A WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect revealed no valid permit status in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. | |
TRAFFIC - MISUSE OF TAGS. ADDITIONAL CHARGE: TRAFFIC - ALTERED REGISTRATION | 07:58:00 | 230628001503 | R/O observed a vehicle with a rear license plate that appeared to be taped on to the tag. A WALES/NCIC check of the tag revealed the tag returned to a different vehicle and was expired. A traffic stop was conducted in the 300 Block of Third Street SW. Upon approach, R/O asked the Suspect about the registration stickers in which the Suspect admitted to buying the stickers online. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. | |
FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE | 19:44:00 | 230628001518 | R/O responded to the 200 Block of Massachusetts Avenue NE for a report of an individual making threats. After a BOLO was broadcasted for the Suspect, A/O observed an individual matching that description board a bus in the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Second Street NE. R/O conducted a traffic stop on the bus in the 200 Block of Massachusetts Avenue NE. R/O and A/O-2 boarded the bus and made contact with the individual who matched the description. A WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect revealed an active warrant out of Arlington County, Virginia. USCP Communications confirmed the warrant was extraditable. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. | |

UUV - FELONY. ADDITIONAL CHARGE: FAILURE TO APPEAR. | 12:47:00 | 230627001497 | R/O observed a vehicle occupied by three individuals, bearing an expired Virginia paper tag at the intersection of Fifth and G Streets NE. R/O conducted a WALES/NCIC check, which revealed the vehicle to be stolen out of Maryland and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed on Second Street NE and was later discovered abandoned at the intersection of Fourth and E Streets SE. A canvass of the area led to the rear seat passenger being detained. A WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect revealed an active warrant issued through the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. A/O and S/A were notified, responded, and processed the scene. | |
TRAFFIC - DUI ALCOHOL OR DRUGS | 21:25:00 | 230627001502 | R/O observed an individual sitting in a parked vehicle with the hazard lights on, in the northbound lane of the 500 Block of South Capitol Street SE. Upon approach, R/O conducted a welfare check and detected a slight smell of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the Suspect's breath. A/O conducted SFSTs, and due to numerous signs of impairment, the Suspect was placed under arrest, and transported to Headquarters for processing. | |
THEFT II. ADDITIONAL CHARGE: DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY LESS THAN $1000. | 14:26:00 | 230627001499 | R/O responded to the Library of Congress Madison Building for a report of a theft. The Complainant reported they left their scooter parked and secured to a bicycle rack at the North East corner of the building. Upon returning to the bicycle rack, the lock had been cut and left at the scene. S/A was notified, and will continue to investigate. | |

A traffic stop was conducted in the 200 Block of D Street SW. A WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect revealed a suspended license out of North Carolina, and no status in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. |
