| DRIVING UNDER INFLUENCE - 1ST OFFENSE | 1:02:00 | 250808002602 | R/O observed a vehicle fail to maintain its lane of travel while driving through the 600 Block of North Capitol Street NE. R/O then trailed the vehicle but had to maintain a speed well above the posted speed limit to maintain line of sight. A traffic stop was subsequently conducted in the 800 Block of First Street NE. During the course of the stop, R/O detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. SFSTs were administered. Due to numerous signs of impairment, the Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. | |
| DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY + AFFRAY | 16:19:00 | 250808002610 | R/O responded to the intersection of First and D Street NE about a possible crash and fight that occurred at that location. Upon arrival on the scene, the victim claimed that a person threw a water bottle at their vehicle which resulted in a cracked windshield. CSS responded to take photos of the damage. A show up was conducted and the victim confirmed the person as the individual who threw the bottle at their vehicle. Officers also found a Nalgene water bottle in the Suspect's possession and the Suspect admitted to throwing the bottle. The victim claimed that there was no physical altercation between the two Suspects. Upon further investigation, a witness standing in the 300 Block of First Street NE claimed that the driver of the vehicle and the pedestrian got into a physical altercation after the bottle was thrown at the vehicle. S1 was placed under arrest for destruction of property. S1 and S2 were placed under arrest for affray and both were transported to Headquarters for processing. | |
| OPERATING AFTER SUSPENSION | 18:55:00 | 250808002613 | R/O observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Columbus Circle NE with expired Maryland temporary tags. RO conducted a traffic stop in the Unit Block of Columbus Circle NE. A WALES/NCIC check confirmed that the Maryland tags were expired. A WALES/NCIC check of the Suspect's license revealed that the Suspect had a suspended license out of the District of Columbia with no permit status in Maryland or Virginia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. | |
| DEFACING GOVERNMENT PROPERTY | 11:05:00 | 250808002604 | R/O-1 and R/O-2 were patrolling in the Unit Block of Columbus Circle NE when R/O-1 observed the Suspect tampering with a flagpole in the area. Upon further investigation, R/O-1 observed multiple flagpoles defaced with black permanent marker. R/O detained the Suspect after observing a folding knife tucked in his waistband. A search of the Suspect revealed a permanent marker on his person. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. CSS responded and processed the scene. | |

As R/O was investigating further, an individual approached the vehicle and identified themselves as the owner. A WALES/NCIC check of the individual revealed they were subject to two active warrants; one was issued through the Charles County (Maryland) Sheriff's Office while the other was issued through the Montgomery County (Maryland) Police Department. Once extradition was confirmed by Communications, the Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. | |
| DRIVING UNDER INFLUENCE - 2ND OFF. ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER (SIMPLE ASSAULT) RESISTING ARREST FAIL TO OBEY OFFICER PERMIT REVOKED-OAR FAIL TO EXHIBIT LICENSE | 1:16:03 | 250806002590 | R/O observed a vehicle with expired tags traveling at a high rate of speed in the Unit Block of Massachusetts Avenue NW. A traffic stop was initiated in the 600 Block of North Capitol Street as the driver pulled over and exited the vehicle. However, the driver failed to comply with R/O's commands and had to be physically restrained from leaving the area. Additionally, the driver refused to provide any identifying documentation when requested. R/O also detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver's breath. The Suspect was subsequently placed under arrest. The Suspect then resisted efforts to be placed in a transport vehicle by by contorting their body and kicking assisting officers. Once under control, the Suspect was transported to Headquarters for processing. Upon verifying the Suspect's identity during the booking process, a WALES/NCIC check revealed their District of Columbia operator's permit had been been revoked. | |
| LEAVING AFTER COLLIDING - PROPERTY DAMAGE | 14:00:00 | 250806002592 | R/O responded to the Unit Block of E Street SW for a report of a traffic accident. Upon arriving on scene, R/O discovered a vehicle with visible damage to its front driver's side. Per the Complainant, they were struck by another vehicle while attempting to take the C Street SW exit along the northbound lanes of Interstate 395. The striking vehicle then fled the scene. Attempts to locate the striking vehicle met with negative results. A/O responded to process the scene. | |
| UNLAWFUL ENTRY. ADDITIONAL CHARGES: RESISTING ARREST | 8:38:00 | 250805002583 | R/O observed an individual approach a set of steps on the Lower West Terrace of the U.S. Capitol Building that members of the general public are prohibited from entering. Despite warnings from multiple officers in the area, the person bypassed the first set of bicycle racks positioned to block access and entered the restricted area. The individual then physically resisted responding officers' attempts to detain them and continued to push towards the steps. Once under control, the Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. | |

Initial attempts to identify a Suspect met with negative results. A/O responded to process the scene. S/A was advised of the offense and will continue to investigate. | |
| CARRYING A PISTOL WITHOUT A LICENSE (OUTSIDE HOME OR PLACE OF BUSINESS). ADDITIONAL CHARGES: POSSESSION OF UNREGISTERED AMMUNITION POSSESSION OF UNREGISTERED FIREARM/UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM OR DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE | 14:21:00 | 250804002576 | R/O responded to the U.S. Botanic Garden in order to assist a Contract Security Officer with an armed individual who said he was a Special Police Officer (SPO). Upon arrival, R/O observed the person in question with a holstered handgun in plain view on their hip. Further investigation revealed the individual had neither SPO credentials nor a concealed carry permit in their possession, as is required. An inquiry through the Metropolitan Police Department Gun Registration Unit revealed the individual did not possess a license to carry a pistol, nor was their firearm registered, in the District of Columbia. The Suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters for processing. A/O responded to the scene in order to recover the handgun, which was loaded with six (6) rounds of ammunition. S/A-1 and S/A-2 responded to conduct a recorded interview with the Suspect. |
